Final Blog Post -Farewell

Hi to all my classmates I know class is ending soon which is sad but eventually All good things must come to an end. Therefore I learned a lot about the positive and negative aspects of government which is very important having knowledge about it since I’m a criminal justice major. The assignments I completed were a Film review, Intro, and Final slide, Meme assignment, 2 sentence Chapter, Midterm and Final Exam, Congressional Simulation, and ALL Class Blog posts which haven’t been graded yet but it comes out with a total of 99 points. Therefore I worked very hard on all these assignments and I’m truly honored of being a student of a wonderful professor. I also loved the fact we had a choice of what assignments to do specifically so I appreciate that professor Shawna Brandle. This was one of my favorite classes and forever will stay in my heart not forgotten.

Farewell

Week#13 Oh How Much I Love Foreign Policy

What is Foreign Policy and why is it so crucial to our national government? Hi to all my classmates I will be discussing what foreign policy is and why I believe it’s so crucial to our national government. In addition according to a website called online.york.ac.uk Foreign Policy is a system that helps the national government create interactions and relationships with other countries. Overall, Foreign Policy helps maintain peace and stability throughout all the countries in the world which is why I believe it’s so crucial to our national government. Therefore I will be presenting the benefits Foreign Policy offers to a national government from a website called state.gov it states “Promote stability in all regions of the world; Prevent enemies from threatening the United States or our allies with weapons of mass destruction; Reduce the impact of international crime and illegal drugs on Americans; Protect and assist American citizens who travel, conduct business, and live abroad.” This sentence “Promote stability in all regions of the world; Prevent enemies from threatening the United States or our allies with weapons of mass destruction” is significant because it explains how foreign policy helps maintain stability throughout all countries and prevents mass destruction. Another example is from a website called internationalrelationsedu.org states “Allows nations to cooperate with one another, pool resources, and share information as a way to face global issues that go beyond any particular country or region, Contemporary global issues include pandemics, terrorism, and the environment. This sentence “Allows nations to cooperate with one another, pool resources, and share information as a way to face global issues that go beyond any particular country or region” is very crucial because it indicates that  Foreign policy helps promote other nations to cooperate and share information as a way to face global issues head-on. Overall these examples have shown the important aspects and benefits of what a foreign policy offers to our national government.

In conclusion, Foreign Policy is a system that helps the national government create interactions and relationships with other countries. Which led me to believe that Foreign Policy is important to our national government because it helps maintain peace and create good relationships throughout all the countries. In addition, Foreign policy can also help other countries come together as a team to exchange information if they have the same global issues.

Final Slide Blog Post

Overall I learned that the Judicial Branch was seen as the weakest link out of All the Branches, but in reality, it’s the strongest. In addition, the reasoning behind why the Judicial Branch is more powerful compared to the other branches is because Judicial Branch has the power to rule laws or Government actions that violate the constitution. The Judicial Branch is also responsible for deciding or looking over the meaning of the law, whether to pass a law or determine whether a law breaks the rules under the constitution which is why the Judicial is so important to our government. To summarize, this was my favorite topic, and I enjoyed learning about it in depth and gaining a new perspective on this specific branch.

Week# 11 – The Electoral College

What is even an electoral college, and why is it so important? Hi to all my classmates. In week eleven, I will discuss what an electoral college is and its importance in the United States. But first, we need to understand what an electoral college is and its purpose in our democracy. According to a website called archives.gov, an electoral college is a process in the united states to help elect President or Vice President. Therefore the primary purpose an electoral college serves is to help spread power to elect the president across fifty states. In addition, the electoral college offers many benefits and will provide evidence from sources on why the electoral college is so important. Therefore I will present an example from a website called Georgia.gov, stating, “It was designed to ensure that the more populous states didn’t overpower the smaller states when choosing the nation’s leader.” This sentence, “It was designed to ensure that the more populous states didn’t overpower the smaller states,” is crucial because it explains how beneficial the electoral college is, such as maintaining power throughout all states, specifically for smaller states.

Another helpful example that an electoral college offers is from a website called history.house.gov  states, “When voters go to the polls in a Presidential election, they vote for the slate of electors who have vowed to cast their ballots for that ticket in the Electoral College.” This part of the sentence, “When voters go to the polls in a Presidential election, they vote for the state of electors who have vowed to cast their ballots for that ticket,” is significant because it shows how the Electoral College helps voters cast their polls for the presidential election. To summarize, I have presented examples of the electoral college benefitting the United States Of America, which led me to believe why the electoral college is so significant to our democracy.

In conclusion, A electoral college is a process that helps us as citizens and our government Elect a president and vice president. In addition, the Electoral college offers many benefits, such as maintaining power between all states and helping states cast their polls for the election, which is why it is essential to our government.

Film Review: American Presidency

Have you ever thought of how the American presidency came to exist? Hi everyone I will be presenting a documentary from YouTube called “The Ultimate Guide To The Presidents” by History Channel which is about a 43-minute video. Therefore the summary of this documentary talks about how the early days of a presidency and how it came to be by the United States of America during 1789-1825. In addition, this documentary connects to my government class because it portrays the history of the United States in its early days such as its presidency affected the present-day United States of America’s democracy positively. Overall the documentary helped deepen my knowledge of government course topics because learning about how the presidency was formed gave me an insight into how America was exploring the unknown or experimenting with this new national government system at the time since no other country has tried it which was exciting and very interesting to me. Above all This led to the main point I believe that is presented in the documentary is most significant during the introduction to a new system as having the most effect on America’s presidency were the events of the first election and The Constitutional Convention. To summarize I will be presenting evidence from the documentary on why I believe the most significant parts of Americas presidency history are The first election and The Constitutional Convention.

The subject of this paragraph will be explaining important events that happened during the early days of the America presidency during 1789-1825. Therefore I agreed that the most significant historical parts of the presidency are The first election and The Constitutional Convention. In addition, I will be presenting evidence from a documentary on YouTube called “The Ultimate Guide To The Presidents” by History Channel in the section Constitutional convention states “Well the founding fathers claimed that King George III was an abusive executive So they didn’t give the president of Unilateral power, They established strong courts, A strong legislative, and Relatively weak chief.” This sentence “So they didn’t give the president of Unilateral power, They established strong courts, A strong legislative, and Relatively weak chief,”  is significant because this indicates how the founding fathers discussed and agreed on how much power a president should have in this new government. Another example from a documentary on youtube called “The Ultimate Guide To The Presidents” by HistoryChannel but this time in “The first Election” section states “The first presidential took place on February 4th,1789, 69 electors met in their respective states and cast two ballots, The winner would be president and the runner up, vice president, Washington swept the first ballot with all 69 votes while John Adams, became vice president. This sentence “The first presidential took place on February 4th,1789, 69 electors met in their respective states and cast two ballots” is significant because this was the first-ever presidential hosted in America where George Washington himself become the first president. Therefore I choose these quotes because they conveyed how much of an impact The First election and The Constitutional Convention had on America’s history and on its democracy present day.

In conclusion, I learned a lot from this documentary, and helped me understand more about the early days of a presidency. In addition, it helped me learn how important the presidency was in our national government in America was which led me to believe that the most significant historical parts of the presidency are The first election and The Constitutional Convention.

Week#10 Our Voice

Why is political participation crucial for the United States Of America’s democracy? Hi to all my classmates I will be talking about why I believe political participation is vital for our democracy in the United States. But first, we need to understand what political participation is and why it’s so significant. According to a website called “Political participation” political participation is a way people can express their opinions or take part in shaping decisions that affect the government and their lives. Therefore the reason why I believe political participation is so significant is that it’s one of the ways we as citizens can make a change in the government or community, not only that it’s our voice as citizens to address political issues. In Addition, I will be presenting examples of why political participation is important from a website called “Rightforeducation.org” which states “Political participation is one of the best ways for ordinary people to make a substantial change to their community, If people are engaged with the politics of their country, they will better understand where the government is going wrong.” This sentence “Political participation is one of the best ways for ordinary people to make a substantial change to their community”, is very significant because it conveys how political participation plays a big role in changing our community. Another example found on a website called  “Rightforeducation.org” states “If everyone in a country participates in politics, it will become much harder for a government to ignore the problems of the people, Therefore, an increase in political participation should mean more will be done to address political and social problems.” This sentence “Therefore, an increase in political participation should mean more will be done to address political and social problems”, is very significant because it explains how if more people politically participated it would address and solve social issues. To summarize the examples I have presented explain the benefits of political participation such as it being of the ways we as citizens can make a change in the government or community, not only that it’s our voice as citizens to address political issues.

In conclusion, Political participation is a way people can express their opinions or take part in shaping decisions that affect the government and their lives. In addition, I used sources that portrayed the benefits of political participation

Therefore it led me to believe political participation is our voice as citizens to address the main issues which are very important to our democracy in the united states of America.

Week#9 The Judicial Branch

Adam Altam

Did you know that the judicial branch is considered the weakest Branch but In reality, it’s the most powerful one? Hello to all my classmates I will be presenting why I believe the Judicial Branch is the most potent. But first, we need to understand what is the Judicial branch and its purposes. According to a website called uscourts.gov, the Judicial Branch is part of the United States government that is responsible for deciding or looking over the meaning of law whether to pass a law or decide if a law breaks rules under the constitution. In addition, it leads me to believe that the Judicial Branch is the most powerful because it’s part of the supreme court which is considered the most powerful court in the United States. Therefore I will be presenting examples from a website called “IPL” by professor Yvonne Wollenberg states “The judicial branch is made up of the Supreme Court, the court with the most power in the country, and other federal courts that are lower in the system; the purpose of this branch is to look over laws and make sure they are constitutional and reasonable.” This sentence “The judicial branch is made up of the Supreme Court, the court with the most power in the country”, indicates and shows how much power

the Judicial Branch has especially being made of the Supreme court. Other examples are found on a website called “Us history.org” it states “The federal courts’ most important power is that of judicial review, the authority to interpret the Constitution, When federal judges rule that laws or government actions violate the spirit of the Constitution, they profoundly shape public policy.” This sentence “When federal judges rule that laws or government actions violate the spirit of the Constitution” is significant because it shows how the Judicial Branch has the power to rule laws or Government actions that violate the constitution. Overall this leads me to that the Judicial Branch is the most powerful In the United States.

In conclusion, the Judicial Branch was seen as the weakest link out of the Branches but in reality, it’s the strongest. In addition, The Judicial Branch has the power aligned with the Supreme court not only their power but also within judges, justices, and finally federal courts which is why I believe Judicial Branch is the most powerful Branch.

Week #8 The Executive Branch

Hello to my classmates I will be discussing how much of an impact the Executive Branch has on the United States of America. But first, we need to know what the Executive branch is and why it’s essential to our democracy. In addition, according to this website Executive branch is basically one of the three branches that carry and enforce laws by Congress which is why I think The executive branch is so significant. In addition, I will be presenting examples from a website called USA GOV states “The executive branch carries out and enforces laws, It includes the president, vice president, the Cabinet, executive departments, independent agencies, and other boards, commissions, and committees.” Overall this sentence  “The executive branch carries out and enforces laws, It includes the president” is significant because it explains how the executive branch has the power to carry and enforce laws which include the president. Another example found on a website called  USA GOV states “Much of the work in the executive branch is done by federal agencies, departments, committees, and other groups.” Therefore this sentence, “The work in the executive branch is done by federal agencies, departments, committees” is significant because it conveys how the Executive Branch has a huge impact on federal departments and finally on committees. Inaddition these examplesconvey the importance of the executive branch offers to our democracy of United States of America.

Inconclusion The Executive branch is a branch part of the government that has the responbility of enforcing and carry laws for each state.Inaddition it led me to believe that the executive branch is the most important branch because it has power to change our states laws that can have a positive or negative impact on us as citizens.
